Our sponsor, for about two years a very active member of Carletonville, made a self-denial in the name of the Higher Power, to start this group amongst the Bantu clerks. It first seemed impossible, in view of master and servant relations between him and the workers, that he would achieve his object of coming down to the level of us all, but the gulf was removed within the first two meetings.
