The Anecdote Bin

HERE are a couple of news items a little closer to home base. In Coral Gables, Fla., police found a burglar asleep in front of an open safe. "I guess I had too much out of that bottle," he mumbled as they led him away to the sneezer. . .In Washington, a man in whose bedroom police found forty-one fifths of whiskey and twenty-four pints of wine, pointed out that they were to be used only in the event of a bombing. We imagine the police must have been of the opinion that the man could have been plenty bombed even without an enemy attack.
