AND M.E., Guilford, Conn., tells us about a sign that used to greet pioneers as they headed their covered wagons out of Council Bluffs, headed for the Great Western Plains in the 1800s. It read: Choose Well Your Ruts--You are Going to be in Them for the Next Thousand Miles.
