SHORT SNORTS: Happy New Year! May you arise on January 1, gaze into a mirror and like what you see. The other night we heard a speaker say he used to get up in the morning, peer into his mirror and mumble, "I don't know who you are, but if you'll hold still, I'll shave you.". . .Bob B., of Merced, Calif., reports that a friend of his, when circumstances take him into a bar, orders a very dry ginger ale with a cherry in it. Since the friend's name is Kelly, Bob suggests we call this libation the Kelly Cocktail. So--start a fad. . . .Things-aren't-what-they-used-to-be Department: Now being marketed are canned cocktails called Quickies. And from Grand Rapids comes word that a firm there has successfully developed a frozen martini on a stick. Popsie's Popsicles, we think they ought to call them.
