There is no escape from loneliness so long as real communication with others is blocked by hostility. I do not begin to become a real self until antagonism is replaced by an inner bond, so that I can stop being selfconscious and begin to be incorporated into shared ideas and shared feelings. It is only within the "we" one ever becomes "himself."
