Alcoholics Can't Forget

For the alky, science finds, it's harder to "accentuate the positive

ONE of the mental quirks which make some people victims of the disease, alcoholism, appears to be an inability to defend their own peace of mind with what science calls "selective forgetfulness." Everyone has noticed the strong tendency of people to remember only what they want to remember--and to forget the things which they consider unpleasant and which challenge their peace of mind.
