the case of the Parisian housewife

MY name is Eleanor and I am French. My home is Paris, I have an alcoholic husband and three children. During the last ten years I have been nagging, yelling, exasperating him day after day. I was the most unfortunate, the most unhappy wife on the earth. Everybody pitied me, family, friends, strangers. My nerves and my health went to pieces and all the doctors and psychiatrists told me exactly what I wanted to hear: that all my troubles came from what I had to go through with my husband.
