I phoned the number in Oslo, and spent a pleasant evening with the volunteer and his wife, who happened to be answering the phone that evening. They took me to their home and we drank coffee and talked. I wrote to the box number in Kirkenes and two men met my boat at 6:30 A.M. (in the cold rain) and drove me off to see the Russian border--returning me to the boat in time to sail at 8:30 A.M. (Only an alky would go off with two strange men in a strange country to see the Russian border). We had a splendid time and much talk.
