Keep Your Guard Up, Old-timer!

There R's. . .Resentment, Rationalization, Remorse. . .linger to haunt the older member

AS I walked out of the hospital, I was plagued by emotions of bewilderment and depression. For the man I had admitted for hospitalization was not a new "pigeon," but instead an old friend and long-time member of AA. I thought of the many people to whom we had "carried the message" together. I remembered Harry's effectiveness in helping new members accept the program. What had made him start drinking again?
