The Anecdote Bin
ANOTHER brush with the law was reported in a Los Angeles Herald-Examiner clipping sent in by Glendale's H.D.D. A fellow out there, flagged down for drunken driving, insisted that the cops send for his personal physician to examine him. The law obliged, and it turned out this was a mistake on the part of our hero. After receiving a $10 fee from the suspect, the doctor told him: "In my opinion, at the time of this test, you are under the influence of alcohol." Then, just to button things up good, the doctor turned to the police and said, "If he's drunk now, he must have really been smashed when you brought him in."
