Aim in Life

Few ever reach the top rung in the ladder of excellency. If you run, there will be someone in the world who can outrun you. If you box, there is someone who can beat you, if not now, very soon. If you shine intellectually, there is someone, somewhere, who can out-think you. If you teach or preach, if you swim, or shoot, if you joke or pray, if you win friends or sell products, there is someone in your world, probably not far from you, who is your superior. What of it? Supposing you cannot be the world's champion in your field. If you can't beat the champ, there is one important opponent over whom you can triumph. You cannot always be better than someone else. But you can be better than the person you were yesterday.
