Carrying the Message

As long as you're up. . .

In the November issue, the AA translations of liquor-ad slogans were hilarious. Useful, too; something to remember when Madison Avenue's siren song gets too persuasive. But R. Z. skipped my favorite whiskey-ad hero, the poor guy who has been sitting around for the last couple of years with a typewriter on his lap, telling his wife (presumably), "As long as you're up, get me a ----." I'm afraid he's never going to finish that masterpiece, or, if it's just a bit of hack work, he's never going to make his deadline. I deeply sympathize!
