The Long, Long Road Back
MY first introduction to AA was in the early part of 1941. The few meetings I made at the time, along with the letters received aboard ship during World War II from AA people, afforded me some degree of sobriety. However, it apparently was not enough for a young alcoholic, aged twenty-three, as I still continued to drink. My drinking had become tempered and was not a satisfactory experience because I was now aware of my intolerance to alcohol.
