On Having a Birthday in AA
One of our group members had a birthday last week and the flaming candle on his festive cake set me to thinking. That moment of triumph and joy for all of us--one of our guys marking a completed year of sobriety--reminded me of Shakespeare's line: "How far that little candle throws its beams! So shines a good deed in this naughty world."
