Alcoholics and Suicide

The scope of the problem reviewed, with the suggestion that we all can help

YOU have seen those predictions in the newspapers before the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Christmas, and New Year's of the number of fatalities there will be as a result of auto accidents. They are based on statistical projections. Now what would you think if you saw this headline in a newspaper: "Thirty-five members of AA will commit suicide this year. Another 250 AA men and women will try it." Shocking? It is a statistic for AA's per cent of the total population based on the over-all suicide rate in the U.S.
