ANOTHER doctor, claims Rauel S., of Kauai, Hawaii, once devised a test to find out whether or not a given patient was a lush. The way it worked was, the doctor put a half-filled bottle of whiskey on the desk and asked the patient to describe the quantity of the contents. If the patient said it was half full, the doctor figured he was optimistic and only a heavy drinker. If he said it was half empty, the doctor was pretty sure he was pessimistic and probably an alcoholic.
