Plea from the deaf
Like so many others who have suffered from alcoholism, my hearing is impaired. It is not so bad that I require a hearing aid, but it does require that words directed at me must be spoken clearly, in a fairly forceful tone of voice, and it helps tremendously if I can see the speaker's face and lips.
