An AA Doctor's Request

I WANTED to be a doctor when I started college, but my heavy drinking and premed work didn't go well together. Three years and one bout of DTs later, I joined AA. Five years after that I finished premed in night school and started medical school. (I would like to say here that the admissions committee of the school knew of my drinking history and my present affiliation with AA and accepted me anyway.) This spring I graduated and am now an intern in a busy hospital in New York City.
