Carrying the Message

To B. W., whose letter appeared in "Carrying the Message" (Sept. '65) and who asked for prayers for "longer periods of sobriety" I'd like to say that I do not feel that prayers alone can keep us sober. I doubt that anyone prayed more than I did before I came to AA but I realize now that I prayed that I wouldn't get drunk; I did not pray for help to stop my drinking altogether.
