Carrying the Message
Time passes by almost unnoticed, except that one wonders vaguely where it has gone and why one didn't manage to accomplish more. Can you think of anything nicer than to lie in the sun and watch the life that goes on in the old cactus? The cactus wrens and gila woodpeckers have made innumerable holes where they and sparrows and little purple serins nest. There is even a split-level house way up top where two families live. There are also a pair of mockingbirds, and some canaries. Eric built a birdbath in my rockery just below and I have a feeding table and the birds come down even when I'm standing right alongside. The sparrows chitter-chatter and nag each other endlessly and the finches sing their little hearts out. You can see how busy I am!
