Put Aside Anger

IT seemed to me once that the great trick in learning to live the AA way of life was to put aside anger. I think now that it's rather a matter of learning to love--and serve. I dimly see these days that there is no freedom from a messy inner landscape of greeds and compulsions until somehow, someway, we are focussed on the miraculous fact that we are given the world and all the people in't to love. Shakespeare's Miranda, pure-of-heart if ever anyone was, concluded from the sight of one very ordinary young man that it was a "brave new world" that lay in store for her beyond Prospero's island. I think we see fairly soon in AA that there is to be for us indeed a brave new world--if we will just walk out and live in it with love. Ah, but it's not so easy to do. There is time needed, and that changing we call growth, and a great deal of help from fellow AAs and from our Higher Power.
