Carrying the Message

Every letter a meeting

To me every letter is a meeting--maybe I'm lucky in having such a fine lot of correspondents. I can write whom I like, when I like, on any topic in or out of AA range. We are told in the Big Book to get down on paper our debits and credits when doing Step Four, because we can think more clearly and see ourselves as we really are. It relieves tension because we get out of the driver's seat and let go. As a loner I cannot go to a live meeting and 'get it off my chest,' but I can write it down and send it to some poor unfortunate who takes pity and writes back.
