Loner solution

My husband and I were both sober a year more or less when we moved from the town where there was a choice of two groups, to a wide spot in the road where we were the only two sober alkies. Even in the nearby village there was nothing. So we went about doing all the things we could think of (we thought) to find some prospects and start a group--put an ad in the weekly paper, went to see the editor, the minister and the police. Arranged for a meeting open to the public put on by the home-town groups. It turned out to be a real good meeting for us--none of the village or hamlet people showed, drunk or sober.
