My Name Is Mary

An alcoholic's own story

I STARTED drinking when I was eleven years old. I lived with my mother and my grandmother. My father died when I was a baby. My mother was born with a speech defect. I am the only child and I felt it was my duty to assume all responsibilities. I hung around teen-agers who were much older than myself.
