Ring Glad Bells

On the Grapevine

A VERY joyous Christmas and happy New Year to all! Every year when it comes time to make up the Christmas issue we try to select from our manuscripts at least a few that directly relate to Christmas experience--"before AA or after,"--and this issue contains several, as well as Bill's Christmas greetings. Reading them over, and the rest of the issue, the thought struck us that perhaps we were loading the dice for Ye Olde Christmas Cheer, that too many of the articles in the issue said the AA way is built-in bliss, that it furnishes the highroad out of the blues, and if you don't think so, or find it so, you're a spoil sport. One of us said something to this effect, "Shouldn't we include one gritty piece at least, which says Christmas, or any day, can be damned hard for some of us to get through sober?"
