WHEN I was a little girl, my father used to give me beer often; he said it was good for me. I think I started my alcoholic initiation when I was fourteen. I got married at eighteen and this was only another step in the procession: marriage and beer! My husband always had a good job, thus I had money available for my switch from beer to what I thought was the most wonderful drink in the world: the Manhattan!
