THE SECOND one tells the tale of the half-bagged soldier riding on a bus. He sat next to a girl who was fighting a losing battle with a very short, tight skirt. After a particularly hard yank, she looked up and met the bleary gaze of the soldier. "Don't stretch your calico on my account, lady," he said, "my weakness is liquor."
