Once Over Lightly

I KNOW this one is true because it happened to me. I had just started driving up the high-arch bridge that spans the Delaware and Chesapeake Canal when I saw a car speeding after me. As I watched him, in my rearview mirror, he missed the bridge, jumped the sidewalk and carommed off the guard rail. He then bounced back into the roadway and, with fenders flying, smashed into the opposing rail. Rather than stop, he somehow got his beaten wreck of a car under control and sped on, only slowing down because he would have rammed me.
