Shore Leave

A FEW times at meetings the statement has been heard and read: "Members of AA have paid the highest initiation fee of any club members in the world." The statement has fascinated this alcoholic from time to time because of its simple verity. It is also further stated that we will never be able to figure out how much we have spent on alcohol. Also true. However, a rough estimate of one alcoholic's initiation fee seemed possible. Namely mine. (I can't know how much others of our Fellowship have paid financially and, even perhaps more important, mentally and physically.)
