Carrying the Message

Hip-pocket meeting

I leave the Grapevine by my bed and read it at night before retiring. I find it a sort of "hip-pocket" meeting. They told me when I first came into AA to stick with the winners. Well I've noticed two strong points about my winners, they rely more on AA as their sobriety progresses as a friend they know they can trust, as opposed to the awesome stranger they needed desperately at first. And I can't help noticing that when I pick up ideas from the Grapevine and bring them out in conversation, the cranky, unhappy people I see as dry, scoff and laugh and refute the ideas and the truly sober people smile, agree or say "That's very good, Ed."
