The Deacon's Bench - A group secretary can make the difference. . .

The responsible secretary will make it his business to become acquainted with every new person that comes in; he'll get the new member's name and phone number, and he will watch out for this new member for at least six or seven weeks. If the new man or woman misses a meeting, he will call the next day and tell the newcomer, "We missed you last night." (I know from personal experience how effective this can be. It can do a lot to correct the "drop out" situation.)
