Stepping Out of Oneself

Once I heard a man say, "I stepped out of myself, turned around, saw myself as others saw me and was amazed beyond words." Complete self-inventory is a way we can honestly see ourselves as others see us. In this process most of us prefer to hang on to our pet character defects (known only to ourselves and God), and work on those apparent to others. Quite frankly, when you remain sober long enough to examine yourself as others see you, you will not be pleased with your observations.
