Sense and nonsense on the road to recovery

SOME DAYS YOU CAN'T MAKE A NICKEL DEPT.: H. C. of New York sent in some clippings, showing that his local paper had run a caption under a picture of a Veteran's Day parade saying, "Battle-scared veterans march up Main Street." Naturally this raised some fuss in the community so the editor reprinted the picture with the following caption: "The caption on this photo in yesterday's paper contained a typographical error. Instead of 'battle scared,' of course we meant 'bottle scarred.' "
