Around AA - Items of AA Information and Experience

A Bit Over-zealous

In the April Grapevine at the top of this section under "Dead letter Anonymity," we said, "We (the Grapevine and GSO) never address mail to an AA Group." A quick-eyed reader wrote in to tell us we were wrong, that our statement was "a bit over-zealous." He enclosed an AA mailing label to "AA Group, Alcoholic Rehabilitation Center, etc." It appears we were right in saying no member's name and AA appear on any mailing from this office, but a mailing to an AA Group at a P..O. Box or an institution without anyone's being identified by name is quite common. Our apologies for the error. Our correspondent, H. O., applauded the whole idea of the April piece: not to be so anonymous that no one could ever know you might be willing to help him stop drinking.
