This Fellowship Is True Fellowship

A Malta-based writer has sampled bonhommie--wet and dry--worldwide, and prefers the AA kind anywhere

AS a writer I travel to different continents in search of material for my books. As a dry alcoholic for three years I find that in my travels I have exchanged one fellowship for another, the fellowship of the hotel bar, the pub and club, for the fellowship of AA meetings and the friendliness of the many individual AAs I meet. The old fellowship, the "hail-fellow-well-met" fellowship of the pubs and clubs, I now realize was an entirely false one.
