Proposal 3
In midsummer of this year, the Quaker Project on Community Conflict issued a booklet describing work its members have done helping homeless alcoholics in New York City, Their work is so unusual and the way they spoke of it so compelling, we asked permission to reproduce here sections of the booklet, "Out of Community." Skid row alcoholics constitute only about three per cent of the alcoholic population and yield only a very few AA members--neither fact, however, reduces by a jot the huge total of human misery and helplessness skid row life produces. - The Editors
