'The Challenge of Crime in a Free Society'

The AA Grapevine takes, pleasure in reprinting with permission the entire text of Chapter 9, "Drunkenness Offenses" of The Challenge of Crime in A Free Society, the report of the President's Commission on Law Enforcement and Administration of Justice. The report, dated 1967 and published by the U.S. Government Printing Office, was issued over the signature of Nicholas deB. Katzenbach, chairman of a group of nineteen distinguished citizens asked in July of 1965 by President Lyndon B. Johnson to form a commission to deal with the urgent problem of crime in the United States.
