Dr. Giorgio Lolli, an Italian-born American physician who works in the alcoholism field, defines an alcoholic as one whose continuous drinking adversely affects his work, his recreation or his rest--in other words, one whose drinking impairs his efficiency. He told of a patient who illustrates the definition.
