Carrying the Message

When I stand at a speaker's platform and say, "I am a member of Alcoholics Anonymous," I must remember, "I am responsible. When anyone anywhere reaches out for help, I want the hand of AA always to be there. And for that: I am responsible." When I say, "I am a member of Alcoholics Anonymous," you who are also responsible members know that I speak for myself, not for AA. You know that my expressed opinions are my own, not necessarily original with me, but essentially an individual opinion.
