How It Goes with AA in Calcutta

A nonalcoholic newspaperman reports on his firsthand experience of the Fellowship

MY FIRST contact with AA was a visit from a member who hailed from Seattle and came along with a founder-member of Calcutta's first group to see whether the paper I worked for would be interested in AA and its work. The paper was, but not in an overly enthusiastic way. Not everyone is really interested in water wagons and pledges and all that. Drink has been a problem down the centuries of man's existence, and no one really believed that AA was going to work in Calcutta. My own interest was lukewarm.
