My Name Is Lou
An alcoholic's own story
I WAS born in the land of the caribou, the moose, the codfish, the bakeapple berry, Haig Ale, Three Star, and a potent home brew made from Christmas-tree branches called spruce beer. It's the land of Newfie Screech or, as the American soldiers fondly called it, Block and Tackle. (Take a drink of it, walk a block, and you'll tackle anything.)
