The Redwoods

California redwood trees are so tall they are the first to know the golden flush of dawn; so tall that when the evening sun goes down they are the last to bid it farewell. I wonder how, standing so close together, they grew so tall and how, being so tall, they could withstand the force of the storms that beat against them.
