IT took a long time for the knowledge, or truth (or is it spiritual progress?) to dawn on me, that plain old sobriety, beautiful as it may be, is not quite enough! We do have to learn to live. Would you believe it, that after twenty-eight years of wild, chaotic drinking, I imagined in those first few golden days, weeks and months when I floated around on huge, fluffy pink clouds that I "had it made!" I thought God had just pressed a magic button and I'd been sprung like a jack-in-the-box from the depths of my lonely hell-hole.
