Once Over Lightly

Sense and nonsense on the road to recovery

EXCUSES, excuses! There have been some pretty fanciful explanations for slips, but the one we heard about recently wins the Once Over Lightly Golden Slipper Award, hands down. This fellow said that one night he drank a big glass of milk, which made him toss and turn all night. The rolling around turned the milk into butter, and then the butter into fat, the fat into starch, the starch into sugar, and the sugar into alcohol. This got him drunk, and he woke up with such a terrible hangover and thirst that he had to go out for a hair of the dog, and so. . .
