A Southern AA tells how a single sober member forced a sweeping change in his attitude

THE LETTER "Road of Happy Destiny?" from Pass Christian, Mississippi, in the August 1967 issue of the Grapevine,[1] prompts the writer to sound off on a subject that has become a crutch for certain members. They seem to be looking for excuses for not fulfilling the conditions and responsibilities of their sobriety and AA way of life. Yet these same individual members will voice our I Am Responsible creed to the world--as long as things are going their way, and there is nothing on their AA horizon that might place them in an uncomfortable or compromising position.
