Around AA - Items of AA Information and Experience

How many AA members are there? Each year a new count is given in the AA World Directory, published in the spring. The directory is revised annually according to information sent in by groups on cards GSO mails once a year to all groups. If every group reported, and every report was accurate--it would be a different world! Many groups don't report at all; many give no member count. Those that do report have no formal membership rolls to consult; group officers make an educated estimate of the number of active members and shoot the card back in.
