All This Reading at AA Meetings--isn't It a Bad Trend?

More and more groups read more and more things at the start of meetings. Why use precious <emphasis type="underline">talking</i> time this way?

IN A recent issue of the Grapevine, several articles mentioned new, exciting changes in AA meetings which were designed to foster a greater in-depth communication for the participants. I was greatly impressed by the apparent similarity between these marathon meetings and a statement I heard repeatedly when I was a newcomer to the Fellowship: "When you get right down to it, Alcoholics Anonymous is one drunk talking to another."
