ANIMAL ACT: A communication, via the pages of Sports Illustrated, from the National Center for the Prevention and Control of Alcoholism, tells about efforts at the NCPCA to turn monkeys into lushes. They were bribed with extra food when they partook of booze and were prodded with electric shocks when they tried to drink water. Nevertheless, the monkeys took their punishment and their water straight. A few monkeys--executive types who were forced to make decisions under stress--lapped up the bourbon, but immediately returned to water when the stress was removed.
