Carrying the Message

My husband and I had been attending quite a few AA meetings during the week, including a late Saturday night one. On Sunday morning, at church, as the priest was ending his sermon, I reached over and nudged my half-snoozing husband. Much to my surprise, he automatically began to applaud, stopped short, realizing where he was, looked about at staring eyes and one very bewildered priest, sank very low in his pew, and turned a bright red. It was more than I could do to keep from shaking with inward laughter. After a moment's meditation, I leaned over and said, "Now you can say you've really had a spiritual awakening."
