Quoth the Grapevine: "Thank You So!
Thank you one and thank you all For your poems long and small. For the poems of joy and poems of wisdom, For the poems of gratitude. For the funny poems and the sad poems And the poems in between. Most are good, and none are bad. But the facts are bad, the facts are sad, The facts just won't retreat. Einstein spoke of Time and Space. We just talk of Space. There ain't enough! If all the poems that we receive were spread out end to end, From start of first to end of last, Each month that passed We could fill a "Big Book" With poems long and small. But the Grapevine is a little book, And little books lack space. So surely you'll understand our plight. We cannot slight A single poet--not a single one who took the time To write a poem long or small. Since we cannot publish all, we cannot publish one. Some day (who knows?) this, too, will change And we'll talk of Time as well as Space. Your Time, our Space, will fill our lives With poetry aglow. But just for now we'll have to say: "Thank you so. But thank you, no."
